a message from the Minister of Lamination..

Dear friends and nice people whose email addresses are in my computer. I’m writing to announce the unfortunate closing and vacating of all artists in the Crane Street artist building in Long Island City (across from PS 1). Crane Street has been the headquarters for A.T.M.O.T.W  and The Ministry of Lamination for the past 8 years. Anyone who has visited me knows how special, and what a time capsule this building is. Everyone must be out of the building by August 22, 2009 so I am there everyday, sorting and making piles before I completely clear out.

There will never be  a space like it again. Classic decrepit graffiti covered stairwells with a stunning view of the train yards and the manhattan skyline.  Great photo opts. As I am cleaning out my stuff I’ve decided to invite friends to stop by,  pick up something or just say hi - bye. Lots of LAST CHANCE items like stickers from past Lamination Rituals etc etc will go into the dumpster soon.

I will be making a handsome document of my 8 years of escaping from sound art - a book with a DVD and CD featuring my VISIBLE artwork during the past 8 years. I will make as many copies as requested soif you are interested to buy one let me know. I will ask for whatever it costs to produce it -  which I’m guessing will somewhere between $40 and $60.  Lots of the materials I use in my books and postcards (clippings galore) will be going into the dumpster so in order to recycle, preserve and fund my new storage space  I’ve will also sell (yes SELL! - a new idea for me)  -  LAST CHANCE BOXES to anybody who would like a souvenir/time capsule of this joyful ephemeral mess of mine. Filled boxes in 3 sizes (including postage) are hereby offered:

small $20
medium $15
Large $10

LAST CHANCE Postcards made from the debris can also be sent internationally for the price of postage. ( just send me your postal address)

I’m looking forward to moving on and getting back into the INVISIBLE arts - a return to MUSIC.

All the best,
Ken Montgomery

I recently fired up the Nanoloop Gameboy cartridge running through the SNES via Super Gameboy Adapter. All of this runs through an A/D firewire converter recorded and rough-edited with iMovie.

Incredibly interesting interactive infographic (say that five times fast!) from the New York Times today:

The American Time Use Survey asks thousands of American residents to recall every minute of a day. Here is how people over age 15 spent their time in 2008.

What I love most about it is the feeling that the information was, to most people, a useless spreadsheet before this beautiful execution.
